Elizade University has once again demonstrated why it is fast emerging as one of Nigeria’s most outstanding private universities, recording an unprecedented triple victory in national academic competitions that has further elevated its profile on the country’s educational landscape.

In a remarkable feat that underscores the institution’s culture of excellence, students of the university clinched three major national honours in taxation, essay writing and debating, bringing widespread acclaim to the university and affirming its growing influence beyond the nation’s borders.

Leading the pack was Mercy Nana Bankole, a 400-Level student of the Department of Economics, whose scholarly article emerged as the overall best in the national magazine competition organised by the Nigerian Association of Students of Taxation and Allied Courses (NASTAC). Her outstanding submission earned the coveted first position, placing both herself and Elizade University at the pinnacle of academic writing among Nigerian undergraduates.

Adding to the institution’s impressive haul, Grace Odukomaiya, a 200-Level Economics student, secured second place in the national essay competition jointly organised by NASTAC in collaboration with the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), further affirming the intellectual depth being nurtured within the university’s Tax Club.

The celebrations reached another crescendo when Elizade University emerged champions of the highly competitive inter-university debate organised by the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria for universities across Ondo and Ekiti States.

The victorious debating team, comprising Damolekun Lawson (500-Level Law), Alawe-Avayivu Temiloluwa Glory (500-Level Law) and Adeola Joshua (300-Level Law), displayed exceptional analytical ability, eloquence and mastery of taxation issues to defeat other participating institutions and claim the championship.

The remarkable accomplishments have once again placed Elizade University firmly on Nigeria’s academic map, with many observers describing the achievements as further evidence of the institution’s steady rise as a centre for excellence and innovation.

Receiving the award-winning students at the University’s Senate Building, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Philip Oguntunde, expressed immense pride in their accomplishments, describing the victories as a reflection of the university’s unwavering commitment to producing globally competitive graduates.

A visibly elated Professor Oguntunde declared that Elizade University is steadily becoming “a force to be reckoned with globally,” noting that the institution’s strategic vision is deliberately focused on developing graduates who can compete successfully anywhere in the world.

He explained that the university continues to invest heavily in quality teaching, cutting-edge learning facilities, research and human capital development to ensure that students receive the knowledge, skills and confidence required to excel in an increasingly competitive global environment.

According to him, the impressive performance of Elizade University students in national competitions is already validating the institution’s educational philosophy, as its graduates continue to distinguish themselves through academic excellence, innovation and leadership.

While congratulating the award recipients, the Registrar, Mr Omololu Adegbenro challenged both staff and students to remain committed to excellence, reminding them that every achievement should serve as a springboard for greater accomplishments.

“Success is not a bus stop,” he remarked, urging the university community to continue pushing boundaries in pursuit of academic distinction and global relevance.

Adegbenro said the latest triple victory adds to Elizade University’s growing catalogue of national recognitions and further reinforces its reputation as one of Nigeria’s rapidly emerging universities where excellence is not merely celebrated but deliberately cultivated.

The University Bursar, Mr Olusegun Ajeigbe who was also in attendance noted that the institution is irrevocably committed to producing champions across diverse fields of endeavour.

“Elizade University is not only preparing students for the future, it is producing the leaders, innovators and professionals who will shape it,” he said.
