Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed sympathy to the family of Engineer Fidudusola following a devastating fire outbreak that destroyed the family’s business premises in Osogbo on Sunday.
The governor described the incident as painful and unfortunate, noting that the loss suffered by the affected family was significant and deeply regrettable.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke said the state government stands in solidarity with the victims and will explore possible ways of providing support within its capacity.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family and owners of the business affected by today’s fire outbreak. The loss is deeply regrettable, and we share in your pain. The government will explore appropriate avenues to provide necessary support within its capacity,” the governor stated.
Adeleke also commended personnel of the Osun State Fire Service, the Federal Fire Service and other emergency responders for their prompt intervention, which he said prevented the inferno from spreading to neighbouring buildings and businesses.
According to him, the timely response and professionalism displayed by the firefighters helped to minimise the extent of damage and protected lives and properties in the area.
“I appreciate the courage, dedication and timely response of our firefighters whose efforts were instrumental in curtailing the inferno. Their commitment to duty undoubtedly saved lives and protected adjoining properties,” he added.
The governor further praised residents and community leaders who mobilised support for emergency responders during the incident, describing their actions as a demonstration of the unity, resilience and communal spirit for which Osun people are known.
He urged residents across the state to remain vigilant and adhere strictly to safety precautions, particularly in the handling of electrical appliances and flammable materials, to prevent future fire disasters.
Governor Adeleke also reassured citizens of his administration’s commitment to strengthening emergency response mechanisms and improving public safety infrastructure across the state.
“The State Government remains committed to the safety and welfare of all residents and will continue to support efforts aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future,” the statement added.
The fire incident, which occurred earlier on Sunday, reportedly destroyed valuables and business assets belonging to the affected family, prompting an outpouring of sympathy from residents and government officials.
