Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the composition of the re-election campaign committee of Governor Ademola Adeleke, describing it as a gathering of “expired and discredited political figures.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, the opposition party said the 36-member committee unveiled in Osogbo failed to inspire confidence among residents ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
The APC alleged that the delay in releasing the list reflected internal political challenges within the governor’s camp, adding that the final composition did not justify the ожидation built around it.
The party particularly faulted the appointment of Senator Lere Oyewumi as Director-General of the campaign council, accusing him of being a controversial figure.
According to the APC, the choice of Oyewumi suggests that the ruling camp may be relying on “unconventional means” to prosecute its campaign, rather than performance and achievements.
The statement also raised concerns over the inclusion of certain political figures on the list, questioning what it described as “inconsistencies” in party alignments and leadership recognition within the governor’s political structure.
Furthermore, the APC argued that the development signaled a lack of depth within the governor’s political base, insisting that it reflects waning support ahead of the election.
The party maintained that its candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, remains well-positioned to win the forthcoming poll.
It added that the outcome of the election would be determined by the will of the people, expressing confidence that voters would opt for what it described as “credible and people-oriented leadership.”
