Ooni celebrates son, Ademakinwa at two

Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has celebrated his son, Prince Ademakinwa Ogunwusi, on his second birthday, offering prayers for divine protection, wisdom, good health and ancestral blessings.

The prince, son of the Ooni and Queen Ashley Ogunwusi, clocked two on Thursday, September 3, 2026, with the monarch expressing gratitude to the Almighty Olodumare for the gift of his life and the joy he has brought to the royal family.

Ooni, who is the Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigerian Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC), Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide and Co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN), conveyed the birthday message in a statement issued by the Senior Media Officer of the Ooni’s Palace, Sodiq Lawal, on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs, Otunba Moses Olafare.

In the message, the monarch described Prince Ademakinwa as a precious blessing and prayed that he would grow in wisdom, knowledge, good health, character, grace and purpose.

Also, he invoked ancestral blessings upon the young prince, praying that the enduring spirit and heritage of Oduduwa would guide and protect him throughout his life.

He prayed that his son’s journey be marked by divine favour, fulfilment and a strong sense of responsibility to his family, the Yoruba people and humanity.

His words: “Today, we celebrate a special blessing and a beautiful gift from Almighty Olodumare. My dear son, Prince Ademakinwa, you are two today, and my heart is filled with gratitude and joy.

“May you continue to grow under the protection and guidance of Olodumare. May wisdom, knowledge, good health, favour and grace accompany you all the days of your life.

“May the blessings of our ancestors and the enduring spirit of Oduduwa continue to guide your steps. May you grow to become a man of great character, compassion and purpose.

“May you inherit the strength, wisdom and courage of those who came before you, and may you use your life to bring honour to your family, our people and humanity.

“As your father, I pray that Almighty Olodumare will light your path, order your steps and surround you with people who will guide you towards greatness.”

The royal father prayed for divine protection over his son, asking Olodumare to shield him from harm and grant him a long, peaceful, fruitful and fulfilling life.

He also acknowledged the role of Queen Ashley Ogunwusi, the prince’s mother, appreciating her for the love, care and dedication she has continued to show in raising their son.

The Ooni expressed fatherly love and affection, wishing the young prince a joyful birthday.

“Happy 2nd birthday, my beloved son. May your life be long, fruitful and filled with countless reasons to smile. Daddy loves you dearly,” he said.
