Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has praised reinstated local government council executives for donating 300 motorcycles to security agencies to strengthen safety across the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party described the initiative, which was coordinated through the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) under the leadership of Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, as a significant contribution to grassroots security.

According to the APC, the motorcycles are to be distributed among key security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), as well as local vigilante groups, hunters, and community-based security outfits.

The party explained that each local government council procured 10 motorcycles, with allocations structured to enhance rapid response and surveillance at the community level.

It noted that the intervention would complement existing efforts by federal and state authorities in tackling insecurity, particularly at the grassroots where mobility remains a major challenge for security operatives.

While commending the council executives, the APC used the opportunity to criticise the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, questioning the impact of government spending on security over the past few years.

The party argued that the development underscores what local government leadership can achieve in improving public safety, even without direct control of the state government.

It further expressed optimism that more security-focused initiatives would be rolled out in the coming months, as part of efforts to reinforce peace and stability across Osun communities.

The APC also reiterated its confidence in its governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the forthcoming election, stating that his administration would prioritise security and balanced development.
