The National Orientation Agency (NOA), Osun State Directorate, has called on government authorities, community leaders, and residents to intensify efforts toward eliminating Tuberculosis (TB) in the state.
The appeal was made on Tuesday in Osogbo by the State Director of NOA, Mr. Adebiyi Adefarasin Stephen through a statement by the Agency Public Relations Officer Bunmi Olashinde to mark the 2026 edition of World Tuberculosis Day.
Adefarasin described TB as a major public health concern but stressed that the disease is both preventable and curable with early detection and proper treatment.
“This year’s commemoration underscores the urgent need for increased awareness, early diagnosis, and strict adherence to treatment to eliminate TB in our communities,” he said
He urged residents of Osun State to seek prompt medical attention if they experience symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, night sweats, or unexplained weight loss.
The NOA director also called on traditional rulers, community stakeholders, and the media to strengthen advocacy, combat stigma, and provide support to individuals affected by the disease.
“Together, through sustained awareness, collective action, and commitment, we can end TB and build a healthier society,” Adefarasin added.
The statement concluded with a message of optimism, aligning with the global campaign theme: “Yes! We can end TB: Led by countries, powered by people.”
