Osun State Government has launched a scathing attack on the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of deliberately crippling and eventually “selling out” the state’s stake in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.
In a strongly worded statement issued by the Government Media Centre today, the administration described the actions of the former APC-led government as “reckless, greedy, and utterly irresponsible,” insisting that the party must account for what it termed the “akotileta legacy” surrounding the institution.
According to the statement, LAUTECH did not deteriorate by accident but was “systematically starved of funds, mismanaged, and abandoned” over several years under APC leadership.
The government alleged that workers at the institution endured prolonged hardship, including unpaid salaries, allowances, and other entitlements, while the crisis in the university deepened.
.
“The refusal to consistently release subventions worsened every challenge facing the institution and allowed it to bleed under negligence,” the statement read.
The administration of Ademola Adeleke further claimed that the eventual transfer of Osun’s stake in LAUTECH to Oyo State during the tenure of former Governor Gboyega Oyetola, with Bola Oyebamiji serving as Commissioner for Finance, was not a necessity but a voluntary decision driven by poor governance.
Describing the move as a “betrayal of public trust,” the government argued that Osun people were shortchanged, noting that what the state received in return—a College of Health Sciences in Osogbo—fell far below the value of a full-fledged university.
“What Osun got in return was a mere College of Health Sciences. A once-proud joint institution was reduced to crumbs,” the statement added.
The government maintained that the development reflected a pattern of abandonment and disregard for the future of Osun youths.
In contrast, the statement highlighted what it described as achievements of the current administration, including improved funding and stability at Osun State University, as well as investments in education infrastructure across the state.
.
The government, however, challenged the APC to publicly respond to key questions regarding its handling of LAUTECH.
“Why was LAUTECH starved of funds for years? Why were workers left unpaid? And why was a critical state asset transferred without adequate consideration for the people?” the statement queried.
As political tensions continue to rise ahead of the 2026 governorship election, the LAUTECH issue appears set to remain a major point of contention between the ruling government and the opposition in Osun State.
