The campaign team of Bola Oyebamiji has dismissed claims that Bola Tinubu is backing the re-election bid of Ademola Adeleke, describing the speculation as false and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Monday by the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts, the group said reports suggesting a political pact between President Tinubu and Governor Adeleke were “baseless, unfounded and a calculated attempt to mislead the people of Osun State.”
The statement, signed by the group’s coordinator, Adebayo Adedeji, accused the Adeleke administration of spreading propaganda to boost its image ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
According to the AMBO team, President Tinubu would not support what it described as a “failed administration,” insisting that the governor has not demonstrated the leadership capacity required to earn such endorsement.
“The claim that President Tinubu has entered into any agreement with Governor Adeleke is nothing but a ruse aimed at deceiving unsuspecting members of the public,” the statement read.
It further alleged that the President had previously rejected overtures from the Osun governor to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that Tinubu “does not align with leaders whose governance records fall short of expectations in transparency and accountability.”
The campaign organisation also highlighted Oyebamiji’s credentials, noting that he recently held discussions with the President on strategies to develop Osun State in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in key sectors such as education, agriculture and infrastructure.
The AMBO team argued that it would be illogical for President Tinubu to abandon a loyal party member like Oyebamiji in favour of Governor Adeleke, whom it accused of pursuing a second term without merit.
“Why should the President support a governor whose record is allegedly marked by waste and misplaced priorities when he has a tested administrator in AMBO?” the statement queried.
The group concluded that any claim of a Tinubu–Adeleke alliance exists only “in the imagination of those peddling falsehood,” reaffirming confidence in Oyebamiji’s chances at the poll.
The development underscores the intensifying political contest in Osun State as parties and candidates position themselves ahead of the forthcoming governorship election.
