APC set for South-West zonal Congress March 25

Preparations are in top gear for the March 25 Southwest zonal congress of the All Progressives Congress,APC, billed to hold at Onikan Stadium in Lagos.

A statement jointly signed by the South-West Zonal Chairman, Mr Isaacs Kekemeke, Zonal Secretary, Mr Vincent Bewaji and Zonal Organising Secretary, Mr Lateef Ibirogba, urged all accredited delegates to be punctual and adhere strictly to the guidelines governing the exercise.

The congress, scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m., is part of a nationwide exercise approved by the party’s National Headquarters as it moves to consolidate its internal structures ahead of the national convention and future electoral contests.

Besides, the congress will serve as a critical platform for reviewing the APC’s progress in the South-West zone, strengthening cohesion among stakeholders, and positioning the party for greater electoral success.

The zonal leadership outlined a comprehensive list of statutory delegates expected to participate in the congress, in accordance with Article 12.7 of its constitution.

“These include the zonal chairman, past zonal chairmen, and all members of the zonal executive committee.

“Also listed are serving and former governors from the zone, current and former members of the National Assembly, as well as serving and past principal officers of state Houses of Assembly.

“Also State party chairmen, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), National Caucus members, and other statutory delegates to the national convention are equally expected to attend.

They assured that security arrangements and logistical preparations will be given top priorities, given the anticipated large turnout of party faithful and stakeholders.

They assured that organisers and party leadership will work hand in hand with relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and orderly exercise.

They maintained that the broad composition of delegates underscores the significance of the congress as a convergence point for the party’s political heavyweights, grassroots leaders, and institutional actors across the South-West.

The zone—widely regarded as a stronghold of the ruling party—comprises Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti states.

The zonal congress is expected to play a strategic role in shaping alliances, reaffirming leadership structures, and reinforcing party unity within the region.
