Your mouth is powerful more than you think

Reflection for the day

By Olubunmi Adebayo

*Please be careful of what you say with your mouth.*

*The mouth is a DOOR to our body, just as the eye is the window to our body.*

*Food and drinks are not the only items of passage through it. We also have words coming out as another very critical function.*

*Listen to what the Word of God is saying on this :*

*Proverbs 18: [21] “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”.*

*What comes out of your mouth is so powerful that it determines what lives, and what dies in our life and hands.*

*Consider this again :*

*Matthew 12:[37] “For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned”.*

*This is why it sucks to me when people start saying what they don’t really mean at the heat of provocation or emotional tension or pressure.*

*This type of behaviour shows nothing but carelessness, lack of self-control and lack of discretion on the part of any person. A man who is overwhelmed by things around him, and ends up saying just anything with his mouth is engaging in a very bad habit.*

*In this life, one needs to be very careful of what one says when he or she is sad, excited, angry or disappointed.*

*This is because, whatever you say may likely have very serious consequences that you may not have control over. Simply put : _there is power in the words of your mouth_.*

*Several people have so acted and thrown away golden opportunities, or raised needless opposition against themselves or their interests. Some people have by so doing :*
*1) Sent their life helpers away.*
*2) Some have ended up cursing their own children or other beloved ones with their mouths.*
*3) Some have ruined long standing relationships by the uncouth things they said.*
*4) Some have frittered away their long time friends.*
*5) Some have put in jeopardy a lot of things that are beyond their individual persons.*

*Please ensure that you are not a victim of such reckless engagement of one’s mouth – think through before you speak.*

*Again the Word of God admonishes that :*
*James 1:[19]”Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath”:*

*The beauty of our mouth is to act as stated in the above verse.*

Do have a blessed day ahead
