The Pro-Chancellor and Council Chairman of Obafemi Awolowo University, Prof Siyan Oyeweso, is dead.
Oyeweso, 64, according to sources died early Tuesday Morning after a brief illness.
He was, until his death, the Provost of Post-Graduate College, Osun State University.
Confirming the death, the younger brother to the deceased, Olawale Oyeweso said Abdulgafar Siyan Oyeweso was a renowned Professor of history, educator and mentor who touched the lives of countless students and colleagues, political associates among others.
He said the departed scholar was survived by wife, children and family members.
According to Olawale, Oyeweso’s remains will be buried in his country home, Ede, by 4pm today after solat Ashri.
He prayed Allah to grant him Aljannah Fridous and comfort the family and loved ones during these difficult times.
