The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has slammed the state government’s latest move to the Supreme Court over the seized Local Government allocations.

Describing the move as indicating that the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration is confused, the opposition party said the move showed that the state government is disoriented, and overwhelmed by its own alleged refusal to simply obey the law.

The party, in a statement by its spokesman, Mr Kola Olabisi, said this latest maneuver, which allegedly reeks of desperation, confirms that the administration has hit a brick wall in its attempt to seize funds constitutionally meant for the grassroots.

It said all prior alleged efforts to control these allocations through underhanded means and misleading propaganda have failed—leaving the state government with no viable path forward.

According to the statement, “The approach adopted by Governor Adeleke and his team reveals a disturbing lack of diplomacy, competence, and even a basic understanding of governance — especially in a state as complex and dynamic as Osun. This ongoing fiasco has further exposed the administration’s glaring administrative and legal ineptitude.

“At this point, key actors within the Adeleke administration should hide their faces in shame, as the proverbial wind has blown, revealing the naked truth. The hollowness of leadership in the current government has become painfully obvious to all well-meaning Osun citizens.

“Since Governor Adeleke assumed office in 2022, Osun State has experienced a steady decline in governance. From economic stagnation to judicial disregard and policy inconsistency, the state is now gripped by systemic dysfunction and administrative confusion.

“It is often said that when the head is rotten, the entire body suffers — a fitting description of the state of affairs under Adeleke’s watch. His inability to grasp the fundamentals of leadership, especially where legal principles are concerned, has placed Osun in a precarious position.”

The statement said “governance is a serious business; it goes beyond sloganeering, cheap populism, and dancing at every event. These distractions may serve to mask incompetence temporarily, but they cannot substitute for genuine leadership, strategic planning, and respect for the rule of law.”

It said, “Even more disturbing is the state government’s continued resort to blackmail and propaganda—attempts to silence the opposition, subvert judicial rulings, and pressure the Federal Government into unlawful actions. This approach is not only irresponsible but also dangerous for democratic governance.

“It is baffling that the same administration which voluntarily withdrew its previous case from the Supreme Court less than six weeks ago has now returned to the same court with no new facts or legal basis. This only reinforces the public’s perception of a government in chaos, acting without direction or coherence.

APC alleged that Osun State is in a mess entrusted to an administration that appears to lack the vision, discipline, and legal grounding required to govern effectively.
