CP Ibrahim Gotan, has assumed duty as the 28th Commissioner of Police in Osun State.
He succeeds CP Mohammed Umar Abba, who has been transferred out of the state.
A statement by the state police command’s spokesman, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed that the new police boss has assumed duty at the Dtate Police Command Headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital.
Born in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State, CP Gotan graduated from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Sociology.
He joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).
A member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Safety (mnips), he has served both locally and internationally in various capacities across several states.
His notable postings include Personal Assistant to the Commissioner of Police in Borno State; Unit Commander in Ogoni land during the crisis period; 2i/c 4PMF, Ibadan; Divisional Police Officer in various divisions; 2i/c Operations in Taraba State; and Commander of the Nigeria Formed Police Unit (NFPU) in Liberia on two separate occasions, owing to his exceptional performance.
He has attended numerous professional courses both within and outside Nigeria, equipping him for various operational, administrative, and investigative roles in the Force.
Described as a thoroughbred professional, Gotan has made significant contributions across departments central to the Nigeria Police Force.
He is happily married with children.
