The Arewa for Asiwaju group has predicted overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu in the North ahead of the 2027 general elections, following the inauguration of 528 youth ambassadors in Kano State.
The group’s Director-General, Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar, unveiled the ambassadors on Wednesday, charging them to mobilise support for the President across the state’s 44 local government areas.
Badaru, a former Minister of Defence and ex-Governor of Jigawa State, said the ambassadors would visit communities across Kano’s 484 wards to promote the Tinubu administration’s policies, projects and empowerment programmes.
He maintained that the group intended to campaign on the administration’s record rather than propaganda, expressing confidence that the North would give Tinubu substantial electoral support in 2027.
“The happy hundreds of youths that came out for this programme give us much higher hopes, apart from the fact that we knew that even before this time, the North stood firmly with the President,” he said.
The former minister added that the group planned to showcase projects and empowerment initiatives undertaken by the administration across the Northern region to convince voters to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Also speaking, the group’s Kano State Coordinator and former Minister of State for Housing, Abdullahi Tijjani Muhammad Gwarzo, said the ambassadors were carefully selected based on their integrity and suitability for the mobilisation exercise.
Gwarzo said the campaign would identify and publicise projects across the region, while additional agents would be deployed to wards to monitor electoral activities and protect the group’s interests during the polls.
Badaru also disclosed that the group planned to inaugurate its Abuja chapter and establish liaison offices in other parts of the country as it intensifies preparations for the 2027 elections.
