*Flying is the most unique of all the means of movement and mobility available to man.*
*In fact, the greatness of birds is in their ability to fly. No other classification of animals has that unique quality.*
*It took humanity almost six millennials (a thousand years make a millennial) to overcome the challenge of gravity and be in the air through flying. Am talking about the scientific breakthrough of the Wright brothers who came up with the invention of the Airplane in December 1903.*
*For our Reflections today, I will not be talking about the physical ability of man to fly.*
*I am talking about a unique endowment from God that empowers humanity to fly over mountains, and scale above hurdles of life as if one is a carrier of wings like birds – am referring to the gift of FAITH.*
*Faith is our spiritual WINGS to fly and the connectivity to God which allows man to scale over our challenges in life.*
*What do you think stood David above others when he accidentally crossed paths with Goliath? Please read :*
*1 Samuel 17: [22] And David left his carriage in the hand of the keeper of the carriage, and ran into the army, and came and saluted his brethren.*
*[23]And as he talked with them, behold, there came up the champion, the Philistine of Gath, Goliath by name, out of the armies of the Philistines, and spake according to the same words: and David heard them.*
*The power of FAITH in David rose up to the challenge of Goliath, and gave wings to his courage.*
*When the capacity of David was being questioned as regards standing up to Goliath, he gave them a taste of his meal of faith :*
*1 Samuel 17:[33]And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.*
*[34]And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:*
*[35]And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.*
*[36]Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.*
*FAITH is best defined as :*
*Hebrews 11:[1]Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.*
*How do you believe in a thing that has not been seen? It is by faith.*
*How do you jump above a barrier? It is by faith.*
*Hear David speak to us :*
*2 Samuel 22: [30] For by thee I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.*
*What do you think helped blind Bartimeus to press forward when everybody was shouting him down when Jesus was passing by? It was FAITH.*
*Bartimeus the son of Timeus could have given up when everyone was shouting him down. But faith gave him wings to Fly :*
*Mark 10:[47]And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me.*
*[48]And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.*
*[49]And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.*
*Faith was the shuttle plane of the elders in the past :*
*Hebrews 11:[2]For by it the elders obtained a good report.*
*In fact, it is the Voyager of flight into the created element of space :*
*Hebrews 11:[3]Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.*
*God has given man the wings of faith to fly, it is left for each of us to determine how far he wants to jump up, maybe :*
*Barely off the ground*
*Up into the air.*
*Or with wings into and through the space.*
*The choice is yours.*
