The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Osun State Chapter, has congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election in the August 15, 2026 governorship election, describing the victory as a renewed mandate to consolidate the achievements of his administration.
The association, in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Timothy Agbor, and Secretary, Tunde Adeleke, also urged the governor to prioritise the speedy completion of the ongoing reconstruction of the Osogbo Township Stadium.
Osun SWAN commended the people of the state for their participation in the electoral process and expressed confidence that the governor’s second term would provide an opportunity to further advance development across the state.
The sports writers particularly acknowledged the commencement of the reconstruction of the Osogbo Township Stadium, describing the project as a significant step towards reviving sports infrastructure in Osun.
The association, however, appealed to Adeleke to ensure that the project was completed quickly and fully equipped with modern facilities to enable athletes, clubs, sports associations and other stakeholders to maximise its potential.
According to Osun SWAN, the Osogbo Township Stadium has historically played an important role in the development of sports in the state, serving as a venue for competitions and providing opportunities for athletes and sports enthusiasts.

The association said the completion of the stadium would create a conducive environment for grassroots talent development, sporting competitions and major events, while also contributing to the growth of the state’s sports economy.
Osun SWAN further urged the governor, in his second term, to sustain and expand investment in sports, particularly in grassroots development, athletes’ welfare, coaches’ development and the provision of modern sporting facilities across the state.
.
The association said completing the stadium would demonstrate the administration’s commitment to sports development and could become one of the enduring legacies of the Adeleke administration in the sector.
It also expressed readiness to strengthen its partnership with the state government and other stakeholders towards advancing sports development and improving the welfare and visibility of athletes in Osun.
The association wished Governor Adeleke a successful second term in office and urged him to use the renewed mandate to further develop the state’s sporting sector.
