The Nigeria Union of Journalists will on Wednesday host the Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, at another edition of the Osun NUJ Guest Platform.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. at the NUJ Press Centre, beside Government Technical College, Osogbo.
The programme, themed “The Role of Legislature in Ensuring Free, Fair, and Credible Elections,” is expected to provide a platform for discussions on the responsibilities of lawmakers in strengthening democratic institutions and safeguarding electoral integrity ahead of the forthcoming Osun governorship election.
Chairman of the NUJ Osun State Council, Comrade Adeyemi Aboderin, said the Deputy Speaker was selected as guest speaker in recognition of his experience in governance, legislative processes and democratic development.
According to him, the forum is part of the union’s commitment to encouraging informed public conversations on governance, democracy and accountability.
The event is expected to attract journalists, political stakeholders, civil society organisations, students and members of the public interested in democratic governance and electoral reforms.
The Osun NUJ Guest Platform has continued to serve as one of the leading public discourse initiatives in the state, providing opportunities for engagement on critical national and state issues.
