The All Progressives Congress in Osun State has congratulated Muslim faithful across the state on the celebration of this year’s Eid al-Adha, urging them to celebrate with moderation and extend love and support to the less privileged in society.

The party also called on residents to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity and political stability in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole, especially ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Osun State Chairman of the APC, Tajudeen Lawal, the party described Eid-el-Kabir as a significant Islamic festival that promotes sacrifice, compassion, obedience and communal harmony.

According to the statement, Muslims who are financially blessed should use the period to support widows, orphans, the needy and other vulnerable members of society who may not have enough resources to celebrate the festival comfortably.

The party stressed that extending hands of fellowship to the less privileged remained one of the major lessons of the festival and an important responsibility for all adherents of Islam.

The APC also urged Muslim faithful to remember those receiving treatment in hospitals and others battling illnesses in their homes by offering prayers for their speedy recovery.

The statement further advised celebrants to avoid reckless spending and excessive merriment, noting that moderation during celebrations would help preserve lives and promote peaceful coexistence.

The opposition party equally appealed to Muslims to continue praying for the peace and development of Osun State, particularly as political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

The APC used the opportunity to canvass support for its governorship candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, describing him as an experienced administrator capable of restoring the lost glory of the state.

The party maintained that Oyebamiji possessed the leadership qualities and administrative competence needed to reposition Osun for sustainable growth and development.

The statement also commended members and supporters of the party for maintaining peaceful conduct in their political engagements across the state, expressing confidence that the APC would emerge victorious in the next governorship election.

The party said its members should remain steadfast and patriotic in their collective efforts to ensure what it described as a better future for the state.

Reaffirming its commitment to democratic principles and good governance, the APC urged residents to actively participate in the political process and support leaders capable of moving the state forward.

The statement concluded by encouraging Muslims to embrace the values of sacrifice, love, unity and peaceful coexistence as they celebrate Eid-el-Kabir with family, friends and neighbours.
