Osun State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has welcomed the newly deployed Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim D. Zungura, pledging continued collaboration with the Police Command and other security agencies to strengthen security across the state.
In a statement on Wednesday by its State Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, the body also commended officers and men of the Osun State Police Command for their discipline, dedication, commitment, effectiveness and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Abiodun, who is also the Executive Chairman of Ifedayo Local Government, Oke-Ila Orangun, said the association was ready to work closely with the new police leadership to improve the security architecture of local government areas and the state at large.
He described CP Zungura as an officer with a verifiable track record, expressing confidence that his experience would contribute significantly to the maintenance of peace and security in Osun.
“We are ever ready to partner the police and all other security operatives to scale up the security architectures of our various councils and the state at large,” he said.
The ALGON chairman stressed that security remained a fundamental objective of any purposeful, responsible and responsive government, noting that local governments had a critical role to play in supporting security agencies in protecting residents and public infrastructure.
According to him, the association would spare no effort in supporting initiatives aimed at maintaining law and order, preventing crime and safeguarding the lives and property of citizens across the state.
He called for stronger synergy among local government authorities, the police and other security agencies, particularly in the area of intelligence sharing, community engagement and prompt response to security threats.
Abiodun expressed optimism that the new police commissioner would build on existing security efforts and further strengthen public confidence in the security architecture of the state.

He assured the commissioner of the association’s support and cooperation as the new police leadership begins efforts to consolidate security and public safety across Osun State.
