Ondo Assembly Speaker, Rt Hon Bamidele Oleyelogun
The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Iroju Ogundeji, has been suspended from office for alleged unruly behaviour.
Suspended with Ogundeji on the same allegation are two other lawmakers including Hon Favour Tomomewo who represents Ilaje constituency 2 and Hon Adewale Williams, Ondo West constituency 2. They were suspended for alleged unruly behaviour.
Also on Wednesday, the House Majority leader, fromAkoko North West constituency, Hon Suleiman Jamiu Maito, resigned as the house leader, even as APC leaders from his constituency disowned him for supporting the anti-impeachment lawmakers.
Maito’s letter of resignation was read by the Clerk of the House, Mr Bode Adeyelu, during the plenary session on Wednesday.
The suspension and resignation are fall outs of the crisis over the planned impeachment of the state’s Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi.
Ogundeji, from Odigbo constituency, is the leader of the the nine members of the assembly, including Tomomewo and Williams, who opposed the impeachment move against the Deputy Governor.
