Ondo, Ekiti parley to tackle security challenge

0ndo and Ekiti State governments have closed ranks to address their security challenges in order to promote business ties.

The 0ndo state commissioner for Regional lntegration and Diaspora Relations,Prince Boye 0logbese who was speaking at a stakeholders meeting on Regional lntegration between the two states emphasized that the Seaport springing up in 0ndo state is a good strategy that will promote business lntegration around the South west zone and put it on a global map.

A statement by the ministry’s sdpokesman, Bisi Abboola, said that 0logbese who commemded the 0ndo State Governor Lucky 0rimisan Ayedatiwa opined that promotion of tourism through the seaport will open the region into the world.

He stressed the need to have comprehensive data with the use of Amotekun and the provision of identification cards to curb the menace of miscreants.

In his own speech, the Commissioner for Regional lntegration and lnter governmental Affairs in Ekiti State, Dr.Makanjuola Akande said security arrangement should be a joint effort, promising that Ekiti State Government is ready to key ln for the seaport activities.

He declared at the meeting that the Cargo Air project ln Ekiti will commence operation in August 2024.

Also, he emphasized the need to make the Ekiti/0ndo state road to be passable while boarder markets need to be open up and made operational to address the hogh cost of food.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti state on Regional Development, Prince Tunji 0gunlola said the Ekiti state government has provided a large vote for security using Forest Rangers and Amotekun corps to fortify its security apparathus.

This he said has paved way for peace restoration ln Ekiti state.

The Director General, Ekiti state Diaspora Focal Point 0fficer, Dr.Adeola Adeleye-Fasuba commended the two state governors for paying priority attention to security lssue.
