The Leader (Waali) of the Muslim Congress (TMC) Ondo State Chapter, Mallam Abdul-Wasiu Kayode Babalola has called on Nigerians to pray to the Almighty to assist and surround the President-Elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his Vice, Senator Kashim Shettima with people of goodwill, who will help them drive the Country to greatness and prosperity for the masses.
A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Congress, Mallam Abdul-Majeed Adebayo, said that he made the call recently at a function in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The statement said that Babalola congratulated the duo for their success at the February 25th, 2023 Presidential, and National Assembly polls, which he noted, no doubt, were keenly contested among the three top presidential flag bearers of the APC, PDP, and LP.
According to him, the pattern of the votes will send a signal to the ruling class and the politicians that it will no longer be banana or amala politics, but that political contestants would only get people’s mandate based on their performance, goodwill, and track record of impacting lives.
Adebayo said: “The TMC leader stated that there is no doubt that the 2023 presidential poll was one of the freest and fairest elections in the country’s 24 years of the democratic process, with the signing into law of the 2022 electoral reform bill by President Muhammadu Buhari, the introduction of cashless policy and cash crunch, which made vote buying extremely difficult for contestants across the board.”
He added that Babalola called on the President-Elect and former Lagos State Governor, Sen. Tinubu to remain grateful to the Almighty for the victory “by running an open, transparent, God-fearing and progressive administration; and be truly servant-leader as he promised in his post-victory address to Nigerians.”
According to him: “He further enjoined Asiwaju to run an all-inclusive and detribalised government at the centre, as he was known while he was the Governor of Lagos State between 1999 and 2007.
“TMC Leader urged the President-Elect and the APC-led Government to fast-track the economic transformation of the country, so as to bring ease and make life comfortable for millions of Nigerians, and build upon the legacies of the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari in the areas of security and infrastructural development.
“He called on those who lost in the 2023 presidential poll to accept fate in the spirit of sportsmanship, sheathe their sword, and join hands with the President-Elect and his Vice to make Nigeria better for all.
“Enough of hate-speech, enmity, fake news, rumor-mongering, animosity, arrogance, ethnocentrism cum religious bigotry, and political chauvinism”, he submitted.
“Meanwhile, TMC Leader applauded Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under the leadership of Prof. Mahmud Yakubu for a great job.”
