The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, has felicitated with workers across the state on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day, pledging to prioritise their welfare if elected governor.
Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, commended workers in both the public and private sectors—including civil servants, teachers, health workers, artisans, traders, and transporters—for their contributions to the growth and development of the state since its creation in 1991.
In a statement personally signed and made available to journalists on Friday in Osogbo, the APC candidate described workers as the “lifeline and engine room of government,” assuring them of a more inclusive and worker-focused administration.
“I warmly celebrate our highly revered workers in Osun on this year’s Workers’ Day. Your dedication, resilience, and sacrifices remain the driving force behind the progress and sustainability of our dear state,” he said.
Oyebamiji pledged to move beyond what he described as a “cosmetic approach” to workers’ welfare, promising to implement policies that would guarantee genuine well-being and improved living standards.
“As a financial expert, prompt salary and pension payments, alongside improved welfare packages, are non-negotiable. We will scale up workers’ welfare from cosmetic measures to real and impactful well-being,”.
The APC flagbearer also assured that no category of workers would be left out in the implementation of his proposed policies and programmes, which he said are aimed at building a more prosperous Osun State.
He further promised to create a conducive working environment that would enhance productivity and improve the overall quality of life for workers.
In a bold declaration, Oyebamiji said his administration would focus on empowering workers economically, adding that efforts would be made to create wealth through structured welfare initiatives.
“By our deliberate policies, we will create opportunities that will make millionaires out of civil servants through legitimate means, while ensuring sustainable economic growth,” he added.
He reiterated his commitment to running an inclusive, participatory, and people-oriented government that would prioritise the needs of workers and reposition the state for greater development.
