The State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, personally conferred the award on her at the 2019 Productivity/Merit Award ceremony, which held at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, the state capital on March 12, 2020.
Dr Adedeji who has been the Librarian of the Elekuro Branch Library from 2014 till date, was honoured with other civil servants who distinguished themselves in their work during the year.
In his speech at the occasion, the Governor said that he was happy to honour the civil and public servants who have distinguished themselves in the state.
The ceremony was tagged “Oyo State Productivity Day: Most Efficient Civil/Public Servants Award”
Makinde, while congratulating the recipients, said that “With their hard work being duly recognised, they are now in the spotlight and will be expected to maintain the standard which got them the award.
I also urge other civil/public servants to put in their best at work. I restate that our administration will continue to prioritise the welfare of our civil servants to motivate them, as we regard them as the engine room to drive our policies.
It is the first time such an award has been held since 1999 and I promise to make it an annual event under my watch.”
Dr Adedeji, who gave the vote of thanks on behalf of other awardees, said: “On behalf of all the Awardees, I give all glory to God Almighty for the award and for making this occasion a possibility. I appreciate His Excellency, Governor Oluwaloseyifunwa Makinde (the people’s governor) for graciously hosting this event.
I thank the 2019 Award Committee for approving our nominations from the management of our various ministries and parastatals. This recognition is an encouragement and a motivation for us to do more, to be more committed and dedicated to our duties and to affect our environment positively as civil servants in Oyo State.
We promise our loyal support for the government in its efforts to move Oyo State forward as an enviable state among others in the country.
An anonymous quotation says: ‘we may not be able to do great things at all times, but we can do small things in a great way with great love and passion’.
