Hundreds of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State have defected to the Accord Party in what observers described as a major political shift in the area.

The defectors, led by Hon. Ifasanjo Soladoye, Director-General of the Eniade Campaign Organisation, alongside three former APC councillors, were formally received by the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun.

Speaking at the reception, Egbedun commended the decision of the defectors and reiterated the appreciation of residents of Odo-Otin for what he described as the developmental strides of Governor Ademola Adeleke

According to the Speaker, the people of the local government would not forget the impact of the current administration on infrastructure and development in the area.

“Odo-Otin will never be ungrateful to Governor Ademola Adeleke for the unprecedented development his administration has brought to our local government,” Egbedun said.

He noted that the wave of defections reflected growing support for the governor’s leadership and recognition of what he described as visible changes taking place across the state.

“The governor has made remarkable and unprecedented impacts in Odo-Otin Local Government. Our people have seen genuine commitment to development, and it is only natural that they continue to show appreciation and support,” he added.

Egbedun described the move by the defectors as a demonstration of confidence in the current administration and its governance style.

“The people have spoken through their actions. This movement shows that the people of Odo-Otin believe in the vision and leadership that is currently moving Osun State forward,” he said.

The Speaker also assured the new members of full integration into the party structure, stressing that the growing support base would further strengthen efforts towards sustainable development in the local government and across the state.

Dignitaries present at the event included the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Rasheed Aderibigbe; the Executive Chairman of Odo-Otin Local Government, Hon. Adewale Adeyinka, alongside members of the council’s cabinet, party leaders including Alhaji KK, and other party functionaries in the area.

The defection comes amid increasing political activities in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
