Group scores Osun govt 100% in fiscal Transparency, accuses APC of propaganda

Osun State

By John Dike, Osogbo

The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has said that Osun State has attained a 100 percent fiscal transparency rating in the latest assessment by civic technology organisation, BudgIT, describing the development as a major validation of the state government’s financial reforms.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign council also dismissed recent claims by the opposition APC governorship campaign organisation, popularly known as AMBO, describing them as “misleading, incoherent, and politically motivated.”

The council said the allegations were part of a broader attempt to undermine the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke, despite what it called verifiable improvements in governance and financial management in the state.

According to TICC, Osun State’s 100 percent fiscal transparency score in BudgIT’s Q3 2025 report places it among the best-performing states in Nigeria in terms of openness and accountability in public finance.

BudgIT, a civic organisation known for tracking government spending and fiscal responsibility across Nigeria, is widely regarded as an independent and data-driven evaluator of public financial management.

The campaign council said the rating reflects deliberate reforms introduced by the current administration aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, and prudent resource management.

“These recognitions are not accidental but the outcome of deliberate reforms and a clear commitment to openness and responsible governance,” the statement read.

Response to Opposition Claims
TICC criticised the opposition for what it described as reliance on “propaganda and distorted figures” in its assessment of the state’s financial position.

It argued that rather than engage with data-backed evidence, opposition figures had resorted to spreading misinformation about the state’s fiscal standing.

The council maintained that independent assessments such as BudgIT’s report carry more credibility than politically motivated narratives.

Highlighting achievements of the administration, TICC said Osun State had made progress in several key areas, including improved management of public funds, efforts to clear pension arrears, enhanced workers’ welfare, and expanded social intervention programmes such as healthcare support for pensioners.

It also pointed to ongoing infrastructure development projects across the state as evidence of what it described as “people-centred governance.”

According to the statement, these developments reflect a government committed to transparency and measurable outcomes rather than rhetoric.
Political Tensions Ahead of 2026 Poll

The exchange between the ruling party and opposition signals rising political tension ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election, with both sides intensifying efforts to shape public perception.

While the TICC insists that governance in Osun is now driven by accountability and data-backed performance, the opposition continues to question the administration’s fiscal and developmental claims.

The campaign council, however, maintained that the people of Osun remain the ultimate judges of performance, urging residents to focus on “verifiable progress rather than political distractions.”
Conclusion

TICC reaffirmed its commitment to defending what it described as “a new standard of governance” in Osun State, insisting that no amount of political criticism would derail ongoing reforms.

It added that the administration remains focused on consolidating gains in fiscal discipline, transparency, and public service delivery.
