- Victims Snatched After 1,000 Scholars’ Gathering At Senator Yari’s Residence In Talata Mafara
Suspected terrorists have kidnapped five clerics in Zamfara State after attending a special prayer session for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election.
They were abducted on Saturday at the residence of the Director General of President Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign, former Zamfara Governor and serving Senator, Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari, in Talata Mafara
The clerics were whisked away shortly after a gathering where about 1,000 Islamic scholars assembled to pray for Tinubu’s victory in the 2027 presidential election, accotding to a report published by SaharaReporters.
—IDENTITIES OF THE ABDUCTED CLERICS—
According to sources, the victims travelled from communities in Bakura and Talata Mafara Local Government Areas to attend the prayer.
Those reportedly abducted are:
1. Imam Yahuza – First Jumma’at Imam, Dogon Madacci
2. Magawata Abdullahi– Second Jumma’at Imam, Dogon Madacci
3. Malam Shehu Dakko
4. Imam Bala Fagon
5. Na’ibi Tasi’u– Tungar Nagudai
—GATHERING LINKED TO TINUBU 2027 CAMPAIGN—
The prayer was hosted at the residence of Senator Yari.
Their reported abduction has raised fresh concerns over the worsening security situation in Zamfara, particularly as it occurred in connection with a high-profile political gathering.
The identities of the abductors and their whereabouts remained unknown as of the time of filing this report.

Security agencies have yet to issue an official statement on the reported abductions.
The Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, Yezid Abubakar, had also not responded to calls and messages seeking comment as of press time.
The incident comes 24 hours after the DSS alerted religious leaders in Osun State of alleged terrorist plots to attack places of worship ahead of the 2027 elections.
Zamfara has been one of the epicentres of banditry and kidnapping in the North-West, with religious leaders, traditional rulers and travellers frequently targeted on highways.
