The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has a new Commandant, Commandant Toma Mathew Enya, who officially assumed duty on Monday.
He took over from Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo, following his redeployment from the Ekiti State Command.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, ASC I Kehinde Adeleke.
Following the formal handing-over ceremony at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters, the outgoing Commandant, Sotiyo, led Enya on a courtesy visit to the Government Office, Abere, where they were received by the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi.
Speaking during the visit, Enya pledged to strengthen intelligence gathering and information sharing as part of efforts to improve security across the state.
He assured the state government and residents that the Command under his leadership would remain committed to protecting lives and property, as well as safeguarding critical national assets.
The new Commandant also emphasised the importance of effective collaboration with other security agencies and relevant stakeholders in tackling criminal activities and maintaining peace in Osun.
Responding, the Deputy Governor welcomed Enya to the state and assured him of the government’s support in the discharge of his responsibilities.
Adewusi said the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke would continue to provide the necessary backing to the NSCDC to enable it effectively perform its statutory duties and contribute to the security and development of the state.
Commandant Enya, an indigene of Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He also obtained a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso.
The new Osun NSCDC boss has served the Corps in various operational, investigative and administrative capacities.
He has also attended several professional courses within and outside Nigeria, with training covering security architecture, leadership and administration.
His assumption of office comes at a time when security agencies in Osun are intensifying efforts to strengthen intelligence-led operations and inter-agency collaboration in the state.
