Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has renamed the International Centre for Culture and Events, popularly known as The Dome, in Akure after his predecessor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.

The facility will now be known as the Dr Olusegun Mimiko International Centre for Culture and Events, in recognition of the former governor’s role in establishing the event centre.

Aiyedatiwa announced the decision on Saturday during a birthday celebration organised in honour of Mimiko in Abuja.

Mimiko governed Ondo State from 2009 to 2017, during which his administration constructed the facility in Akure, the state capital.

The announcement was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.

The renaming places Mimiko’s name on one of the prominent cultural and events facilities established during his tenure as governor.
