Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has launched a door-to door campaign statewide for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu..
He signalled off the campaign train, meant to reach every household in the state, in Akure the state capital on Tuesday, just as the state’s chapter of another group with the same goal, Tinubu Torch Bearers, was launched.
At the twin event, the governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, passionately charged all members of the ruling party both at the state and federal levels, the All Progressives Congress, APC, to take the Renewed Hope message of President Tinubu to all the nooks and crannies of the state.
He stressed that Tnubu’s reelection will ensure the continuation and completion of the various ongoing bold programmes of the Tinubu administration aimed at the radical transformation of the country’s socioeconomic structure.
According to him, continuity is necessary to consolidate the gains of the reforms and programmes initiated by the Timubu administration to free Nigeria from the stranglehold of underdevelopment, insecurity, and imbalance.
Aiyedatiwa said Ondo State has benefited immensely from constructive collaboration with the Federal Government, adding that Tinubu’s policies and interventions complemented the state’s development agenda.
He disclosed that he had already given a matching order to all party faithful to work for the re-election of President Tinubu in 2027.
According to him, the declaration was consistent with his administration’s position on the need for continuity in the implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He recalled that the President inherited significant economic and structural challenges upon assumption of office in 2023, including fiscal pressures, declining revenues, exchange-rate distortions, high debt-servicing obligations and energy constraints.
Commendably, he said the President addressed the situation by responding with life-saving reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigerian economy.
He noted that the Renewed Hope Agenda has also placed considerable emphasis on infrastructure development, citing ongoing road, rail, bridge and power projects across the country.
These include the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as projects that would strengthen connectivity, facilitate commerce, open up communities and create opportunities for Nigerians.
The governor commended the APC national women leader and the coordinator of the Tinubu Torch Bearers, Dr. Mary Idele for her “vision and commitment to deepening grassroots engagement around the Renewed Hope Agenda”.
He described the inauguration as “more than the creation of another political structure but a practical step towards the success of President Tinubu in 2027. Therefore, I urge you all to go on a Door-to-Door campaign.
In her remarks, the wife of Ondo State Governor, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, acknowledged the impact of the initiative in rallying women across the state to mobilize overwhelming support for the re-election of President Tinubu.
She assured Ondo State women of continued empowerment and welfare by the Aiyedatiwa-led government.
Also, she thanked Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinunu for her initiatives targeting women and young people.
On her part, the APC national women leader, Dr. Mary Idele, appreciated the president for prioritising the welfare of Nigerian women of every socio-economic class.
She said the inauguration of the Tinubu Torch Bearers in Ondo state was to deepen the Renewed Hope message at the grassroots.
“The message is simple; take the torch to every village” Idele said to Ondo women.
Highpoint of the event was the presentation of cheques and empowerment items to various women.
The event attracted top dignitaries, including the wife of Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr Abosede Adelami, Ondo state APC chairman, Hon. Babatunde Kolawole, the state commissioner for women affairs and social development, Dr Seun Osemaye, Mrs Jumoke Ajasin Anifowose, and former commissioner for women’s affairs, Dr Yemi Mahmoud, among others.
