The Yoruba Afenifere Youths Organisation, YAYON, has passed a vote of confidence in the Chairman of Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Mr. Zach Adedeji.

In a statement on Wednesday by its President, Comrade Eric Oluwole, YAYON commended Adedeji for what it described as his exemplary service and contributions to the ongoing implementation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In particular, he noted “the remarkable and unprecedented reforms” that Adedeji has implemented in the nation’s tax sector, which are stimulating Nigeria’s gradual economic recovery from years of plunder and mismanagement.

According to Oluwole, “In view of the unprecedented and remarkable achievements that Mr Zach Adedeji has recorded in office since he was appointed as the FIRS Chairman by the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and his robust potential to make more revolutionary contributions in prosecuting His Excellency’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which is laying a strong foundation for Nigeria’s economic rebirth, we hereby pass a resounding and thunderous vote of confidence in Mr Zach Adedeji, as a foremost exemplary economic manager and public servant.

“We, at YAYON, hereby express our happiness with his performance in office so far, and we strongly believe that well-meaning Nigerians from across the country are happy with him serving currently at the commanding height of their nation’s highly sensitive FIRS Office and particularly the tax sector.

“We note commendably that within his short time in office as the FIRS Chairman, Mr Zach Adedeji has led the agency to successively surpass revenue targets, an unprecedented feat in the history of FIRS.

“He has also introduced a raft of revolutionary tax reforms, which for the first time in the history of our great Country since independence, are redressing the imbalance and injustice that had prevailed hitherto, and galvanizing a remarkable general improvement in the nation’s economic sector,

“It is a thing of pride for all Nigerians that this Country can now stand at par with many countries at the global level in terms of tax administration, as Nigeria can now boast of a modernised tax administration, courtesy of Mr Adedeji as the FIRS helmsman.

“Besides, he has made the FIRS a customer-centric organisation; while revenue collection achievements under his leadership have consistently exceeded targets.

“He has thereby made an unprecedented revolutionary turn-around in daily national income, thus laying a solid foundation for a more prosperous future for our dear Country Nigeria, engineered by the Tinubu administration, whose citizens will, definitely, soon feel the great impact of a new nation flourishing in abundance.

“Within his two years in office, Adedeji has recorded landmark achievements which overshot those of any of his predecessors within that time frame.

“Here is an economic manager towering above many of his peers, whose remarkable achievements within a short time in office as Nigeria’s chief revenue collector, showcase a unique ability to drive success through strategic planning and efficiency.

“For instance, In 2023, FIRS collected N12.36 trillion, a 107% feat that surpassed the target by N11.55 trillion.

“Also in 2024, Adedeji collected N21.7 trillion, which exceeded the N19.7 trillion target by N2 trillion.

“Furthermore, between September 2023 and August 2025, FIRS collected ₦46 trillion in tax revenue, which represented 115% of the combined ₦40.07 trillion revenue target.

“Remarkably also, the reforms implemented by Adedeji in just two years have improved compliance through digital solutions including TaxPro-Max, e-Invoicing, and USSD (×829#) services.

“They have improved staff welfare; boosted productivity; expanded the tax base; strengthened inter-agency collaboration, enforcement measures and
non-oil collections; reduced reliance on oil revenues; and enabled the agency to successively exceed its revenue targets.

“Besides, the tax system reforms introduced by Adedeji, including the National Single Window Initiative; TaxPro-Max; One-Stop Shop: and unbundling of administrative groupings in the service are recalibrating the nation’s tax sector.

“These are apart from many new initiatives that improve the taxpayer’s experience by simplifying the tax system; and new tax laws to reform the obsolete provisions and align the tax system with modern taxation and economic practices.

“Notably these tax legislations newly introduced by Adedeji include the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 (NTA); Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025 (NTAA); Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Act 2025 (JRBA); and Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Act 2025 (NRSA).

“Commendably, these tax reforms have automated over 80 percent of manual processes, reduced bureaucracy, enhanced efficiency; facilitated fast and easy trade operations at ports; harmonised government revenue; and promoted economic growth.

“Also they have streamlined tax office operation catering to diverse taxpayers by category; improved customer satisfaction; reduced complaints; increased the taxpayer experience; automated tax processes; enhanced efficiency in tax payment; blocked revenue leakages; ramped up revenue collection; enhanced taxpayer experience; and created seamless, efficient, and transparent processes among others.”
