The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has uploaded the particulars of its presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and vice-presidential candidate, former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission Candidate Nomination Portal.
This formal submitted of the nomination details of the party’s presidential ticket to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),marks a major step in its preparations for the 2027 general election.
Announcing the development on his X handle on Tuesday night, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, said: “We are pleased to announce the successful upload of the names and particulars of our presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the INEC nomination portal.”
The party’s spokesmam described the action as “another significant step” in the party’s roadmap to the 2027 polls.
He said the upload underscores ADC’s resolve to present Nigerians with “a credible alternative anchored on competence, unity, and national renewal.”
The Atiku-Amaechi pairing brings together two of Nigeria’s most experienced political figures: Atiku, who has contested the presidency multiple times, and Amaechi, who served eight years as Rivers State governor and eight years as Minister of Transportation.
INEC opened its portal on June 27, 2026 for parties to submit nomination forms for Presidential and National Assembly candidates, with a deadline of July 11. Nominations for Governorship and State Assembly candidates are scheduled for July 18 to August 8.
ADC is among the nine parties that, according to INEC, have already collected access codes to upload candidates for the national elections.
