– APC counsels journalists: Focus on development

Ondo State Government has recommitted itself to press freedom as the All Progressives Congress, APC, counseled journalists to focus on developmental journalism.

The party and the state’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, OON.,commended the re-election of the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, in the state, Prince Like Adegbite.

Government made the pledge through Ajulo, who, in a congratulatory message on the NUJ chairman’s return, particularly recommitted his ministry to “upholding press freedom, advancing transparent governance, and collaborating with the media to promote the rule of law.”

He hoped that under Adegbite’s renewed leadership, the NUJ will continue to play a vital role in shaping public discourse and fostering democratic values.

Congratulating him on his re-election, Ajulo described Adegbite’s victory as a testament to his outstanding performance, credible leadership, and the confidence reposed in him by members of the union.

He noted that he “performed excellently during his first term and is expected to deliver even greater results now that he is equipped with more experience.”

Also, he praised the peaceful electoral process and the unity displayed by journalists across the state.

He wished the Chairman and the entire NUJ executive council a successful tenure and assured them of his continued support in the service of truth, justice, and responsible journalism.

Lauding Adegbite’s return in a statement by its state spokesman, Mr. Alex Kalejaye, the party described him as a versatile journalist with enviable exposure and administrative experience.

It said, “The renewal of the mandate is a testament to your popularity and exploits in the first term. We have no doubts that you will do more for the State chapter.”

The party commended media practitioners in the State for displaying maturity and promoting peaceful coexistence among residents.

It appeals for sustained adherence to the ethics of the noble profession and give considerable focus to developmental aspects of their job.

The ruling party also called for sustained understanding and support for the current administration to ensure greater strides in development transformation.

It urged the re-elected chairman to ensure that the welfare of the pen pushers is given deserving attention by all concerned.
