The Ondo State chapter of the Pan-Yoruba sociopolitical organisation, Afenifere, has congratulated Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti over his appointment by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as the Secretary to the State Government, SSG.
At his inauguration on Monday, the Governor announced the appointment along with others.
In a statement on Thursday by its spokesman, Comrade Eric Oluwole on behalf of the state chairman, Chief Korede Duyile, the organisation described Fasoranti’s appointment as well-deserved, appropriate, and indeed a round peg in a round hole.
According to the statement: “The appointment of Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti as the SSG by His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa is commendable and a right step forward by the Governor as his administration takes off.
“Dr. Fasoranti, an eminently qualified medical doctor, who was until his appointment the chairman of the state’s Hospitals Management Board is bringing into his new duty post his wealth of experience to impact positively the governance of our dear State.
“And considering his background and upbringing in a family well noted for its strict discipline especially as it concerns exemplary attitude and behaviour in positions of pubic trust, as well as in private life, there is no doubt that Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti will be an invaluable asset indeed a blessing in the Aiyedatiwa administration and Ondo State in general.
“For instance we recall that it was under the watch of his father and our reverred National Leader, Papa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti as the Commissioner for Finance, that the famous Michael Adekunle Ajasin administration, the first Civilian Government of the old Ondo State at the beginning of the Second Republic between 1979 and 1983, was able to generate, manage and disburse appropriately the resources that enabled that administration to record the superlative performance, that has been the Hallmark of that administration.
“We recall that the effective management and disbursement of the state’s allocation and IGR by the Finance Ministry headed by his father enabled the Ajasin administration built many industries and recorded other landmark achievements, a feat that was rare in the other states then.
“There is no doubt that the Fasoranti, and by extension the legendary Ajasin touch through Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti will impact significantly in the quality of governance to be delivered by the Aiyedatiwa administration to the good people of Ondo State.
“In fact we see Dr. Fasoranti’s appointment as a clear and loud statement by His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa that his administration will devote itself to true governance that will meaningfully impact the lives of our people.
“While we congratulate His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for appointing an eminently qualified professional from a most reputable family background in the state and the entire country into his administration, we pray that the Governor will be guided further in recognising what will best serve the collective interest of our people,z and the courage to implement these.
“Also we wish the Governor and his team a resounding success in his ongoing efforts to execute people oriented programmes that will rapidly transform our state’s socioeconomic landscape into a Haven of development in the interest of all citizens, and indeed a pride of Nigeria.
