The Southwest Forum of Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has elected a new leadership.
At Tuesday’s just concluded elective Congress of the Lagos State Chapter of the Council in Lagos, the NYCN Chairman for Ondo State, Pathfinder Matthew Ogunmolawa, emerged as the new chairman of the Southwest Forum of Chairmen.
Also, the Ekiti State Chairman, Comrade Oluwasegun Famuyibo, was elected as the new Secretary.
Addressing the Press after the election, the Forum’s outgoing Zonal Chairman, Comrade Billiamin Oba, who also relinquished office as the Council’s Lagos State Chairman, appreciated the Forum’s unalloyed support and cooperation he enjoyed throughout his tenure.
Declaring the result of the election, the Council’s Oyo State Chapter Chairman who also doubles as the Chairman of the Chairmen’s Forum, Com. Quadri Abdul-Salam commended the seamless process of transition.
His words: “Today, the Southwest Forum made another history by transiting peacefully to uphold the mantle of leadership, and it is a pleasure to announce that the NYCN Chairman for Ondo State Chapter, Pathfinder Matthew Ogunmolawa, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Southwest Forum while Com. Oluwasegun Famuyibo, the Ekiti State Chairman, is equally elected as the new Secretary.”
In his acceptance Speech, the newly elected Chairman of the Forum, Pathfinder Mathew Ogunmolawa, appreciated his colleagues for the trust bestowed on him.
He promised to work according to the organization’s Constitution as he pleaded for the support of the Council in the Zone to succeed.
Ogunmolawa said: “We have unanimously agreed to continue working together for the progress, prosperity, peace, and tranquility of the Southwest to enable all youth organizations affiliated with the Council to benefit from all government policies as they affect youth development and capacity-building in Southwest Nigeria.
“I congratulate my predecessor and immediate past Chairman for Lagos State Chapter of NYCN, Com. Biliamin Oba, on the success of his tenure as he transits to the Leader’s cadre of the Council.
“I would like to thank our National President, Ambassador Sokubo Sara-Igbe Sokubo for his continued support for the successful transitions recently witnessed in Southwest.
“And most importantly the tireless efforts of Ambassador Tomi Amosu and Comrade Ayyub Jimoh, the National Vice-President and National Programmes Officer respectively.
“Conclusively, the Forum welcomes the newly elected Chairman for Lagos State, Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, as we wish him a successful tenure of office.”
