Nigerians have been told to be patient with the present administration on the removal of oil subsidy which is currently causing agitation across the nation.

The Catholic Bishop of Osogbo Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. John Akin Oyejola stated this at a Holy Mass he celebrated to mark the Solemnity of The Holy Trinity Sunday held at St Benedict Catholic Cathedral in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

At the celebration, which coincided with the celebration of Father’s Day, he enjoined Nigerians to bear the pains saying removing oil subsidies has become inevitable and important in the interest of the development of the nation.

His words “I can feel the pains of many of us over the recent decision on the removal of subsidy. It is good to remove the subsidy as long as our leaders are sincere by using the benefits coming as a result of the removal to develop the nation, building infrastructure such as good roads and hospitals among others.

“My prayer is that after the removal of fuel subsidy, the Government will use the money for the development of our land with meaningful infrastructure that will be visibly seen and beneficial to all.”

He said he believed that the outcome of fuel subsidy removal will be beneficial to all and sundry, and hinted that good things do not come easy. He urged everyone to bear the pains which he said will not last.

The Bishop who used the occasion to congratulate the Fathers in the Church urged them to take proper care of their families as the heads of the homes just as Christ Who is the Head of the church is continuously taking care of the church.

He explained that the work of Christian Fathers CMO in the life of the church cannot be easily overemphasized, hence there is a need to celebrate honor, and respect their wives and children.

Oyejola hinted that he was happy to see the Celebration of Father’s Day coinciding with the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity.

The Bishop while explaining the significance of the solemnity of Holy Trinity Sunday in the Life of the Catholic Church, disclosed that the Holy Trinity of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit is One.

He enjoined Nigerians to work in unity of purpose without discrimination against each other saying the Holy Trinity of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit work together as One.

He prayed that the Lord will continue to show mercies to the Nation and its leaders.

The Shephard of Osogbo Diocese insisted that only unity, justice, and equity are the yardsticks that will help in the development of the nation, urging leaders to implement policies that unite us, but not the ones that divide us.
