Nigeria’s ex-envoy to the Republic of Togo and a former governorship aspirant, Ambassador Olusola Iji, has declared his bid for the seat of Ondo South Senatorial District in the upper chamber of the National Assembly, the Senate.
Simultaneously, he announced the appointment of the Federal Commissioner, National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), and the Onibudo of Ilaje, Chief Wole Iroaye, as his Campaign Director General.
The former envoy who was a governorship aspirant in the 2021 governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, was also an ex-state party chairman.
He said his decision to run for the Senate was to attract needed development to Ondo South.
Bsides, he explained that Iroaye’s appointment of was to bring his wealth of administrative and political experiences to bear on the task of coordinating his entire campaign activities.
Noting that the political career of the DG spans four and half decades during which he variously served as a member of the UPN, SDP, AD, ACN, and now a staunch member of the ruling APC.
Iroaye served as Secretary to the defunct Ilaje/Ese-Odo Local Government under the defunct SDP and later became Special Assistant to the late Governor Adebayo Adefarati. He was also Head of Finance and Budget of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Niger Delta Development Commission.
