Akeredolu appoints 14 commissioners, 7 special advisers, names son DG

Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has nominated 14 commissioner and seven special adviser designates to assist in running the affairs of the state.

He also named his son, Babajide, as the Director-General of Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU).

In a statement by the Information and Orientation commissioner, Mr Donald Ojogo, on Tuesday, the governor said the names of the commissioner-designates would be forwarded to the state’s House of Assembly for screening, clearance, and confirmation

This development is coming nine months after Akeredolu assumed office for the second term.

The governor had, in May, following his re-election in the October 10, 2020, governorship election, submitted the names of four nominees to the House of Assembly for confirmation as commissioners.

They included Ojogo, Information and Orientation commissioner; Mr Wale Akinterinwa, Finance; Mr Charles Titiloye, attorney-general and commissioner for justice; and Aminu Olayiwola, Works, who were later confirmed by the house.

If the nominees were confirmed by the House, this will bring the total number of commissioners in the state to 18.

The commissioner nominees include a newspaper columnist and social media influencer, Mr Bamidele Ademola-Olateju.

The commissioner nominees are as follows:

  • Mrs Bamidele Ademola Olateju – Akoko South East
  • Otunba Adefarati Adegboyega – Akoko South West
  • Rt. Hon. Fatai Olotu- Akoko North East
  • Dr Julianah Oshadahun – Akoko North West
  • Otunba Dele Ologun -Akure North
  • Mr Sunday Adekunle – Idanre
  • Engr. Razak Obe -Ifedore
  • Dr Banji Awolowo Ajaka- Ilaje
  • Pastor Emmanuel Igbasan – Irele
  • Mrs Yetunde Adeyanju- Odigbo
  • Mr Femi Agagu – Okitipupa
  • Hon. Akinlosotu- Ondo East
  • Hon. Lola Fagbemi- Ondo West
  • Chief Olayato Aribo- Use

Special Advisers nominees include the following:

  • Chief (Dr) Victor Ategbole
  • Dr. (Mrs)Wunmi Ilawole
  • Hon. (Barr) Tobi Ogunleye
  • Dr Jibayo Adeyeye
  • Mrs Olamide Falana
  • Dr . Francis Adedayo Faduyile
  • Mr Niyi Oseni

According to the statement: “The names of the nominees, especially the position of commissioner, will be forwarded to the House of Assembly for screening, clearance and confirmation.

“In the same vein, the governor appointed Mr Babajide Akeredolu as the Director-General, Performance and Project Implementation Monitoring Unit (PPIMU).

“All nominated/appointed persons will be sworn in at a date to be announced later after the necessary legislative processes.”
