The new Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, would be sworn in on Tuesday in Akure the state capital.

He was appointed on Monday by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, to replace Hon Ifedayo Abegunde, who quit on Monday morning to commit himself to another aspirant on the same platform of the same ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr Segun Abraham.

A statement by the State Commisioner for Information and Orientation, Mr Donald Ojogo, said that the event which would take place at the Cocoa Conference Centre of the Governor’s office would be presided over by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN.

It said that the event, starting at 11 am, would be a solemn one in accordance with the mood of the State.

Oluwatuyi was a Commissioner in the immediate past Olusegun Mimiko administration. He was appointed by Akeredolu as commissioner last year following a minor cabinet reshuffle.

Akeredolu had announced on Monday via his verified Twitter handle that the appointment is with immediate effect.

He wrote: “Today, I announced the appointment of Hon. Temitayo Oluwatuyi “Tukana” as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to resume immediately following the resignation of Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde.”

The Governor had also nominated Mr Idowu Otetubi to replace Oluwatuyi as Commissioner for Natural Resources. Both are from Akure South Local Government, same as Abegunde who resigned.

Otetubi, a chartered accountant, was the chairman of the Unity Forum faction of the APC. He recently withdrew his case against the State Executive committee of the party.
