Royal fathers in Ekiti state today appealed to warring politicians in the state to sheath their sword in the interest of the development of the state.
They made the appeal through the Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, who is also the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, Afuntade 1.
A statement by the Media Adviser to the Alawe, Chief Ajibade Olubunmi, said that the monarch spoke in his palace in reaction to the worrisome bickering within politicians in the state, noting that what the state needs now “is massive development which will benefit the majority of the people and not divisive political wrangling which will benefit no one.”
The statement said: “Alawe said that it was worrisome that for sometime, some politicians have been exchanging disturbing information portraying bad image of Ekiti State adding that this must stop henceforth.
“Traditional rulers as fathers of all, consider it expedient to tell all politicians that Ekiti needs peace and development and that all hands must be on deck to ensure that we all live together peacefully and provide Government with a conducive environment to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people.
“The Chairman of the Traditional Rulers expressed implicit confidence of Ekiti Traditional rulers in the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi and pleaded that all sons and daughters of Ekiti State should continue to support the Governor in his current determination to ensure the development of Ekiti State without distractions.
“Oba Ajibade Alabi stated without equivocation that Governor Fayemi is a quintessential intellectual imbued with administrative ingenuity which is visible in his governance of the State.
“The monarch described the Governor as a pride not only to Ekiti but Yoruba land and our country, Nigeria.”
