By Malcolm Little Black
Be like the rain,
And fall on every roof
Be like the sun
That light up the earth..
Be like the pipit
Sing for the benefit of all
And be like the meadow
Spreading beauty all around you…
As unperturbed as the morning dew
Nesting on every flower
Be loving and kind
Both beget untold power…
Be unbiased like the air
Be colour blind, and dare
To leap over man-made borders
For what is humanity other than one family?
Be like the desert cactus
And scale above all odds,
Resolve to scatter seeds of goodness
Never underestimate their ability to sprout…
Not like the thunderstorm
But like the gentle breeze
Calm words are like balm
To a broken heart they heal…
Be like the moon
The spark in the midst of darkness
To all and sundry extend a helping hand
Like the harmattan sweeping through the land…
Be generous like the mother earth
Wear empathy as you would a vest
As you walk through this lair of vipers
Where virtues shall face many a test
