Osun State Police Command has deployed tactical teams to the Oke-Baale area of Osogbo following a series of cult-related incidents that left two persons dead and another injured in separate attacks across the city.

The command, in a statement issued on Sunday by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said the deployment followed recent incidents around Owo-Eba and Arowomole areas of Osogbo.

According to the police, a cult clash occurred around Owo-Eba on October 2, 2026, during which two persons identified as Adebayo Taoreed, aka “Small Rugged,” and Oluwaseyi Daniel, aka “OSHA,” were shot dead.

The command said several other persons also sustained gunshot injuries during the incident.
In a separate incident on October 4, suspected cultists reportedly invaded the Arowomole area of the city, where one Rasak Wahab, aka “Ojo Iku,” was shot.

He was immediately evacuated to a hospital and is currently responding to treatment, according to the police.

The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Zungura, described the incidents as disturbing and directed all tactical teams in the command to relocate to Oke-Baale and remain there until normalcy is fully restored.

The tactical teams have been mandated to carry out intelligence-led raids and operations targeting identified cult members, criminal hideouts and other locations linked to criminal activities.

The police said cases arising from the incidents had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for discreet investigation.

The Commissioner also directed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders across the metropolis to intensify patrols, gather actionable intelligence and maintain sustained security presence in identified flashpoints.

The command assured residents that the police were in control of the security situation and urged them to continue with their lawful activities without fear.

It, however, warned cult groups, their members, sponsors and sympathisers against engaging in violence, shootings and other criminal activities.

The police said anyone found to be involved would be identified, arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The command also appealed to parents, community leaders and members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information about suspicious movements, cult gatherings, criminal hideouts and other activities capable of threatening public peace.

Residents were further urged to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could create unnecessary panic.

The Osun Police Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security across the state.
