President Bola Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday attended the national premiere of a documentary chronicling the life and political legacy of the late businessman and politician, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.
The presidential couple arrived at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Iganmu, Lagos, venue of the premiere, as Nigeria marked its 66th Independence Anniversary.
A video of their arrival was shared on social media by the President’s Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun.
The footage showed Tinubu and his wife entering the venue while a band performed the national anthem, with guests standing as they arrived.
Dada said the President and the First Lady were at the event for the Nigerian premiere of MKO, a feature-length documentary focused on Abiola’s life and political journey.
The documentary explores Abiola’s career as a businessman, publisher and politician, as well as his role in the political events surrounding the annulment of the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
Directed by filmmaker Ose Oyamendan, the production draws on archival materials and accounts linked to Abiola and the June 12 struggle.
