“For those wondering where I got my amiable character from, Mama Omotosho modelled me. She showed me how to handle tough situations not only by words but in actions”.
These were the words of the Ondo State Governor Dr Olajide Adelami as he paid glowing tributes to Mama Rachel Olanireti Omotosho, at her 90th birthday celebration at Ede, in Osun State, on Saturday.
He said, “Mama Omotosho was instrumental to my relocation from Owo as a young boy, a decision that exposed me to countless opportunities that helped me discover myself and develop the qualities that have shaped my journey.”
Adelami, who had joined family members, friends and well-wishers to celebrate the nonagenarian at a ceremony held at Admus Hall, Ede, on Saturday, described Mama Omotosho as a bridge-builder, a pillar of support and a woman whose life has been defined by faith, love and service to humanity.
The deputy governor, in a glowing tribute in honour of the celebrant, recalled his childhood experiences and the significant role Mama Omotosho played in shaping his life, personality and career.
He noted that her intervention at a critical stage of his formative years opened doors that ultimately influenced the course of his life.
The deputy governor described the celebrant as a role model whose influence extends beyond her immediate family, stressing that she had impacted numerous lives through her character, generosity, counsel and commitment to the wellbeing of others.
Adelami further commended Mama Omotosho for her dedication to family and her unwavering Christian faith, describing her as a committed family woman and a devout Christian who had remained steadfast in her service to God and humanity.
He prayed for the celebrant to be blessed with continued strength, sound health and many more years in the company of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and loved ones.

the celebrant took turns to eulogize Mama Omotosho, thanking God for nine decades of divine strength and uncommon grace.
The deputy governor was accompanied by top aides from his office, including the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr Adekola Falohun.
