A Nigerian man has reportedly confessed to withdrawing N1.4m from his sick mother’s bank account and losing the entire sum to betting.
The unidentified man made the disclosure in a social media post that has gone viral, recounting how he repeatedly accessed his mother’s account and transferred the money to his betting account.
According to his account, the withdrawals began on September 13 when he took N100,000 from the account and deposited the money for betting.
He said he subsequently withdrew another N200,000 that same day, followed by a further N300,000, all of which he claimed were used for gambling.
The man said the withdrawals continued over time until the total amount taken from his mother’s account reached N1.4m.
He admitted that none of the money was recovered after he lost it through betting.
He said, “On September 13, I withdrew N100,000 from my sick mother’s account and put it into my betting account. On the same day, I withdrew N200,000 and put it into my betting account. I withdrew another N300,000 on the same day.
“I continued withdrawing until it added up to N1.4m, which I used to gamble. But the money was gone.”
The identity of the man and his mother was not disclosed in the social media post.

The circumstances surrounding his access to the account and whether the matter has been reported to law enforcement authorities were also not immediately clear.
The disclosure has since generated reactions online, particularly over the alleged use of money belonging to a sick relative to fund gambling activities.
