President Bola Tinubu, ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, and 15 others make the final list of candidates just released by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to contest the 2027 presidential election.
Also, the body, conducting the general elections, published the names of the candidates’ running mates.
Other candidates on the final list include Oyo State Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, of the Allied Peoples Movement, APM; former River State Governor Donald Duke of the People’s Redemption Party, PRP, and Omoyele Sowore of the African Action Congress, AAC.
The list, signed by the Commission’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony, and released on Saturday in Abuja, also included two female presidential candidates. They are Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori of the National Democratic Party, NDP; and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement, NRM.
Others on the list include Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Sunday Chibuzo Okereke of the Labour Party, LP; Sandy Ojang Onor of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje of the Action Alliance, AA; and Aliyu Abbas-Bin of the Action Democratic Party, ADP.
They also include Kabiru Yusuf of the Allied Peoples Party, APP; Sunday Adenuga of the Boot Party, BP; Moses Olusoji Adebisi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, DLA; Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement, NRM; Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu of the Zenith Labour Party, ZLP; and Peter Ada Agada of the Young Progressive Party, YPP.
Tinubu, Atiku, and Obi, who had contested the 2023 presidential election, in which the incumbent president emerged victorious, will be meeting on the field again for the second time in four years.
Respectively, the three had contested that election on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC; People’s Democratic Party, PDP; and Labour Party, LP.
Now , they are being fielded respectively by the All Progressives Congress, APC; African Democratic Congress, ADC,; and Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC.
