Osun State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with an alleged burglary in which valuables worth about ₦3 million were stolen, including laptops, mobile phones and power banks.
One of the suspects, aged 27, was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, following intelligence gathered by operatives attached to the Ilesa Area Command.
According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the suspect allegedly burgled the residence of the complainant on July 26, 2026, and stole one HP laptop, one Dell laptop, an iPhone 12, an Android phone, two power banks and recharge cards, with a total estimated value of ₦3 million.
The police said the suspect was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation, where he allegedly confessed to the crime.
Further investigation and intensive interrogation reportedly led to the suspect disclosing that some of the stolen items had been transferred to a receiver in Ibadan.
The command said operatives from the SCID subsequently embarked on an intelligence-led operation which resulted in the arrest of another 28-year-old suspect, who was allegedly receiving the stolen property.
This suspect, according to the police, also confessed to receiving stolen items and was being investigated over his alleged involvement in the activities of a syndicate dealing in stolen property.
The police said he further confessed that he bought an iPhone 12 from the first suspect for ₦25,000.
Items recovered during the operation included one HP laptop, one Dell laptop, one small Samsung phone, one mini DP charger, two power banks, one Apple iPad with 16GB capacity and one scrap phone.
The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, CP Ibrahim Zungura, commended the operatives for their diligence and intelligence-led approach, which led to the arrest of the suspects and recovery of some of the stolen property.
The command said investigation was ongoing to establish the full extent of the suspects’ activities, identify other persons connected to the crime and recover additional stolen property.
It added that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation in accordance with the law.
The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities and persons to the appropriate authorities.
