Don’t be eebellious

Reflection for the day

By Olubunmi Adebayo

*The greatest setback to humanity was that man became “rebellion incarnate” after the Adamic fall.*

*Read the statement below to capture the heartfelt agony of God :*

*Genesis 3: [9] “And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?*
*[10] And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.*
*[11]And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?*
*[12]And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.*
*[13]And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat”.*

*With the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden of Aden, the spirit of rebellion was birthed into the human race.*

*So strong and common was the prevalence of human rebellion, that God became heartbroken with the statement below :*

*Gen. 6: [5] And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.*
*[6]And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.*

*But, thanks be to God who gave humanity the gift of Jesus Christ, who came through for our propitiation, through his death on the cross for the purpose of the forgiveness of the sins of man, thereby reconciling us back to God the father.*

*The action of Jesus’ coming as our saviour, can only achieve its purpose on the condition of our accepting Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour.*

*From the moment of the Adamic fall, every man has a strong desire to rebel when he feels like or when occasion calls for such.*

*Ordinarily, rebellion is no joke : it could be very costly.*

*Take for instance, when you rebel in the military, and you are found guilty, the consequence is death.*

*Man should not forget the fact that when the Devil, who was the arch-angel known as the Son of the Morning rebelled against God, the consequence was damnation and condemnation. And because of this, he was sent packing from God’s presence – leading to a third of the forces of Heaven suffering the same fate with him. Today, he is called Lucifer, and other such names, while his host is called ‘the evil forces’.*

*To rebel is to go in the opposite direction of what you are expected or commanded to do. With the Adamic fall, every human being has the tendency to do this.*

*What is the lesson for us all?*:
*Be careful of the attitude called ‘rebellion’.*

*This is because if you rebel against the wrong person, there could be dire consequences following your actions.*

*Take for example, if you rebel against institutions and personalities such as God or His servants, you may get more than what you bargained for, yet you wouldn’t have achieved anything from your rebellion.*

*Several people are today languishing in one despicable situation or the other in their journey of life, because they have rebelled where they should not, thereby hindering themselves from making the necessary progress they should have made.*

*Some children are suffering today because they rebelled against the critical mandates of their parents.*

*Do you even know that there are individuals today facing the consequences of rebellion committed by their ancestors that lived several generations before them? It is this serious!*

*My advice? Retrace your steps if and where you have rebelled, and seek a reconciliation with God, and perhaps with fellow man.*

*Permit me to say that you don’t have to be a rebel before you bring about the needed change around you. If you are desirous to make changes happen around you, then let the change start with you through your accepting Jesus as your Lord And Saviour.*

Good day to you 👍
