— Warns Plotters: Your Plan Will Fail

Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Dr Adekunle Omoyele, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot to plant ammunition at his residence in a bid to implicate him and damage the reputation of the security agency.
He warned those allegedly behind the plan to abandon it, declaring that any attempt to manufacture evidence against him or the Amotekun Corps would fail.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Corps’ Public Relations Officer, CSA Yusuf Idowu Abass, said the agency had received intelligence about an alleged plan by some “disgruntled individuals” to unlawfully plant ammunition at the Corps Commander’s private residence.
The statement said the alleged plot was apparently intended to create fabricated evidence that could subsequently be used to implicate Omoyele and bring him and the Amotekun Corps into disrepute.
However, it stressed that the intelligence remained an allegation and had not been independently established as fact.
It said it was making the information public because of the potential security implications and the possibility that such an alleged act could undermine public confidence in the Corps and create unnecessary tension in the state.
“The Corps has received intelligence indicating that certain disgruntled individuals may be planning to unlawfully plant ammunition at the private residence of the Corps Commander, High Chief Dr Hon. Adekunle Isaac Omoyele, in what appears to be an attempt to fabricate allegations and bring the Corps Commander and the Osun Amotekun Corps into disrepute,” the statement said.
Omoyele warned that those contemplating the alleged action should have a rethink, insisting that any attempt to use fabricated evidence to damage his reputation or that of the Corps would not succeed.
He said the Amotekun Corps remained focused on its responsibility of protecting lives and property and would not be distracted by attempts allegedly designed to intimidate its leadership or undermine its operations.
The Corps said it was treating the intelligence with the seriousness it deserved, particularly because of its possible implications for public confidence, security and the integrity of its leadership.
It maintained that the agency had consistently operated within the confines of the law and remained committed to professionalism, integrity, accountability and respect for due process.
According to the Corps, the alleged plan would not distract it from its statutory responsibilities or compromise its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents across Osun State.
Amotekun therefore called on relevant security agencies to take note of the intelligence, remain vigilant and carry out necessary investigations to prevent any unlawful act capable of threatening public peace.
The Corps also urged the agencies to investigate any attempt to manufacture, plant or use fabricated evidence against its commander or the security outfit.
“We respectfully call on all relevant security agencies to take note of this intelligence, remain vigilant, and conduct any necessary investigations to prevent any unlawful act that could threaten public peace or damage the reputation of the Corps through fabricated evidence,” it said.
The Corps also appealed to residents of Osun State to remain vigilant and exercise caution over any information that may emerge concerning the alleged plot.
It urged members of the public not to accept unverified allegations or malicious propaganda against the Corps or its commander, stressing that due process should be allowed to establish the truth if any incident occurs.
“The people of Osun State are also urged to disregard any misinformation or malicious propaganda that may arise from any such alleged scheme. We remain confident that the truth will prevail and that due process will expose any attempt to manipulate public perception through unlawful means,” the statement added.
The development comes amid heightened political activities and security preparations ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State.
With political parties intensifying their campaigns and security agencies stepping up preparations for the election, stakeholders have continued to urge political actors and residents to avoid actions capable of undermining peace and public confidence.
Against this backdrop, the Amotekun Corps said it would continue to work within the law and in collaboration with other security agencies to protect lives and property across the state.
The Corps expressed appreciation to the people of Osun State for their continued trust, support and cooperation, assuring residents that it remained committed to justice, transparency and the rule of law.
