Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into a viral TikTok video alleging suspicious circumstances surrounding a residential building at Oluwatosin Alabi Street, Odofin Estate, Ibuaje Community, Osogbo.

The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesmam, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi.

According to the statement, the video was posted by a TikTok user identified as Mrs. Ajibola Yetunde Aramide, using the handle @Mrs Aramide Yetty. In the video, she was seen knocking on the gate of the building while claiming she had not seen the owner, whom she described as a fellow community member, for a long time.

She reportedly stated that the Holy Spirit prompted her to check on the property because she suspected something unusual might have happened. She subsequently recorded the compound, showing vehicles and other property within the premises, before posting the footage on TikTok.

The police said Mrs. Aramide also uploaded another video alleging that some residents who built houses in Abere-Sise had not been seen for a long time, while calling on the Commissioner of Police and the Inspector-General of Police to investigate the matter.

Following the circulation of the videos on social media, the Police Command said it immediately commenced an investigation by locating the property and identifying its occupants.
.
According to the Command, officers discovered that the building was occupied by the owner’s wife and a tenant, both of whom were safe.

The police also invited the Chairman and Secretary of the Abere-Sise Community, as well as a representative of the traditional ruler, who confirmed that Mrs. Aramide and her husband are residents of the community and that there were no reports of missing persons or any unusual incidents within the area.

Preliminary findings further revealed that while Mrs. Aramide resides in Abere-Sise Community, the building featured in the viral video is located in Ibuaje Community.

The Command stated that after realising the implications of her actions, Mrs. Aramide deleted the videos from her TikTok account and publicly apologised to the owner of the property and members of the public.

The police noted that posting such content without verification could amount to a violation of the occupants’ right to privacy and may contravene provisions of the Cybercrimes Act.

Commissioner of Police urged residents of Osun State to remain calm and continue their lawful activities, assuring the public that a comprehensive investigation into the matter is ongoing.

The Command also appealed to residents of Ibuaje Community and surrounding areas with useful information that could assist the investigation to come forward.
